Dick Mackey is no stranger to the swimming pool business.  Back in the late 1960’s, he gained his first experience building in-ground swimming pools working for a contractor in New Jersey.  After moving to northeast Pennsylvania, he started his own business, Dick Mackey Pools, and continued building vinyl liner pools, as well as fiberglass-walled concrete bottom pools in his new hometown.  Drawing on his early experience in New Jersey, Dick also built custom homes and did home remodeling.

In 1975, Mr. Mackey purchased the current store location in Chinchilla, PA, and opened a pool store, Quality Pools by Dick Mackey.  This allowed his pool customers to not only purchase a quality swimming pool, but also everything needed to be able to maintain and enjoy the pool.  “Get the best for less, and remember, we’re here to serve you” was the company slogan.  He quickly began offering products from some of the best companies in the pool industry – products like Hayward pumps and filters, Raypak pool heaters, Baquacil chlorine-free chemicals, Polaris automatic cleaners, Doughboy above-ground pools, and PDC Spas.

In the early ’90’s, Dick phased out his home construction and remodeling operation and began to focus solely on the pool and spa business.  Since then, the pool store has been expanded and remodeled, and is now offering even more high quality products than ever.  San Juan fiberglass pools, LoopLoc pool safety covers, Aquabot robotic pool cleaners, BaquaSpa chlorine-free spa products, Pool Breeze chlorine products, Frog mineral pool care, United Chemical products, and Swimline and Poolmaster toys and games have all been added to the list of high quality, high value products.

Now, Quality Pools & Spas by Dick Mackey is well into the 21st century, and after more than 35 years of service to northeast Pennsylvania, Dick Mackey still has his company operating under the same slogan he began with – “Get the Best for Less, and Remember, We’re Here to Serve You!”
